In every culture there is a veil that is placed over our natural beings; who we would be if left to our own decisions about our lives. These veils often come in the form of societal rules and norms. Often these rules are placed on women to keep them in their “place” or prevent them from being a threat to a patriarchal system.
These images came from a study of the veiled sculptures of Antonio Corradini and the wet silk photographs of Erwin Blumenfeld. Very quickly, with the creative work of the models, the feel of the photographs became darker and more disturbing. Is it pain or pleasure? Is it life or death? Can these veils be cast off?
You decide.
This is a unique and ongoing project. If you like to be included in this series please let us know.
